SMA Newsletter • April 8, 2022
Dear Spartan Families,

Thank you for tuning in to our final SMA Parent Group Meeting of the year last night. Information about next school year was shared and Officer Watkins (La Mesa Police Department) provided timely information regarding safety. We appreciate his partnership with SMA!

This is a busy weekend for SMA! Friday evening, the Academy will lead the Stations of the Cross in the church at 6:30 pm. Saturday, you will find school representatives at Cathedral Catholic High School participating in the SeaPerch competition (underwater robotics) and hosting a booth at the La Mesa Earth Day in MacArthur Park.

A highlight for our 8th graders is their reenactment of the Stations of the Cross during Holy Week. The stations begin in church on Wednesday 4/13 at 1:30 pm for grades K-3 and at 1:55 pm for grades 4-7. The final Stations of the Cross will occur in front of the school at 11:40 am next Thursday 4/14. All are welcome. School is dismissed at noon on 4/14. No Extended Care is offered on Holy Thursday (4/14). April 14th is also the last day to turn in rice bowl collections for CRS (see photo above).

SMA Parent Group Executive Officer elections will now take place the final week of April via online ballot. Please click here to nominate someone or volunteer yourself. The 4 positions are president, vice-president, secretary, and treasurer. All current executive officers and chairpersons will vote.

Did you see SMA in the news lately? "If it Grows it Goes! (in the green bin)" was published in the La Mesa Courier and "La Mesa Middle-Schoolers Band Together to Help Children Suffering in Ukraine War" was published in the San Diego Times. Our students are growing to be good stewards of our our world at SMA!

In Mission,
Jennifer Miller
Principal
