Dear SMA Community,
I am so proud of our SMA decathletes who competed all day at St. Augustine High School last Saturday. They did very well, especially scoring 9 our of 10 in the Super quiz for literature. It was also a lot of fun to be in their cheering section along with parents/coaches of those competing and those who hope to be decathletes one day!
Exciting news - We are experimenting with a possible electives schedule for junior high. Ideas include a period for Decathlon, SeaPerch, choir/music, technology, and ASL/Spanish. We are just in the beginning stages, but we're excited to share our initial ideas. As final re-enrollment numbers come in, we will be closer to finalizing the schedule.
If you haven't already completed the Turf VS Sod survey from last week, we invite you to share any information or experiences you have. Click here. So far, we have roughly $50,000 saved for the field. Turf will cost up to $200,000. This is the last time we will share this link, so please weigh in. We need your input. FYI: Tomorrow, while students are off campus, the Acacia bushes (yellow blooms) growing over the field sheds are being removed.
Remember that tomorrow, Friday 3/8 is a Teacher Professional Work day. All teachers in the Diocese will be learning all day at Mater Dei High School, so there is no school.
Please save the date for our next school-sponsored Mass and 3rd grade bake sale - Sunday, 3/17/24 at 9 am. Students attending in Mass uniform will receive free dress on 3/18.
We are excited to welcome back Irish dancers from The Malone School of Dance, along with student Victoria Driscoll, next Friday in the parish hall at 8:15am. Parents are welcome! Students may also wear green with jeans for $1 on Friday. Proceeds go to the Jeans for Jesus, Mission Childhood Association.
Have a blessed day.

St. Martin Academy was an influential part of my upbringing. I look back at my time at SMA and think about the life-long friendships I formed, the extracurricular activities, including an 8th grade soccer championship, and the educational foundation of Workshop Way® that helped form me into the person I am today.
After SMA I attended St. Augustine High School and was a member of the Soccer and Track and Field teams. I thoroughly enjoyed my Saints Experience and the relationships I made along the way, however it was many SMA friends that remained the closest and still do to this day. It was also during high school that I started a part-time job working for the San Diego Padres as a Fan Services Representative. Little did I know that part time job would lead to an eventual career.
