Dear SMA Community,
It's been wonderful connecting with many of you lately, whether through correspondence or during your visits to the office to pick up used uniforms or drop off items. We hope your summer vacation has been restful and enjoyable!
Here on campus, there's been a lot of activity. The drainage project at the preschool is progressing well. Currently, we're addressing the issue of water settling against the front walls due to the sloped sidewalk and grass in front of the preschool. Over the years, this has caused damage, prompting us to implement new drainage that directs water away from the preschool and towards the street. We considered directing it to our garden, but recent heavy rains in San Diego have shown that this could create issues for the condos below us, whom we greatly respect and with whom we maintain a good relationship.
Additionally, our sidewalk cleaning project has commenced with the upper sidewalks already power washed and now being prepared and patched for painting next week. It's remarkable how much wear and tear our sidewalks endure over time. Next on our list are the downstairs sidewalks and the kindergarten courtyard, scheduled for attention in the coming days.
Yesterday was a delightful day spent with 5th graders Wesley and Avery at the Corvette diner. Mrs. Dubnicka and I thoroughly enjoyed lunch, games, and laughter with them. It was not only a fantastic gala experience but also a great opportunity for Mrs. Dubnicka to familiarize herself with some of our school community members. We also discovered that Wes and Avery are talented dancers, and Wes even triumphed in winning a ball from the claw machine!
As always, thank you for your continued support and involvement in our school community by taking a moment from your summer bliss to read our newsletter. We look forward to sharing more updates and events with you soon.
Summer Blessings,
Jennifer Miller
