Dear SMA Community,

Thank you for attending Back to School Nights at SMA! Tonight at 6 pm is our last one (grades 5-8). Parents are receiving hard copies of the SMA '22-23 Family Handbook. Please review, sign, and return the signature page to the office. Between the handbook and our new website, there is a plethora of information at your fingertips! Information regarding how to access your volunteer hours and SpartanCare

Due to popular demand, we added a delicious and healthy lunch service through Ki's Lunch Monday through Thursday. We also offered a discounted tuition rate for volunteering 35 hours per year. With that said, we need more volunteers at lunchtime to help supervise recess and lunch. Our parking lot drop-off and pick-up team also needs a few more volunteers. Please call the school office if you can assist (619) 466-3241.

We were honored that SMA was chosen to supply four altar servers to serve at the Commissioning Mass with Cardinal McElroy on September 8th at 6:30pm. Seating is limited. If you are interested in attending let the office know by next Wed. 8/31. Tune in here August 27th at 7 am PST to view the Vatican Consistory & Creation of New Cardinals Mass at St. Peter's Basilica in Rome.

This was our first week of full days at school. Our kids are learning about their classrooms, teachers, friends, and making goals for the school year. We focused on SLE 1A A Catholic Christian who Lives Catholic values of inclusion and compassion. Please ask your child how he/she lived this SLE at school this week. Thank you for your support!

Volunteer Help - BIG PLEA for Lunch Help!

This is the time to assist SMA and get your 35 hours service hours started for those families on Rate 2. We need coaches and lunch supervisors daily from 11-11:45am. Record your hours in SchoolSpeak. E-mail info51@stmartinacademy.org if you can assist.

Fall Sports Begin • Flag Football & Volleyball

The Fall Sports season begins the weekend of September 2nd and runs through the middle of November. Please sign up by Tuesday, Aug. 30th. Sports fee is $40. After August 30th the late fee is $45. Click HERE for permission slip.

Cross Country (K-8)

The Catholic Sports League of San Diego will have cross country meets on Sept. 23^rd and Oct 1^st. Sign ups and information will be in next week's newsletter.

Choir 2022-2023

Monday and Wednesday • 2:00pm-2:30pm

Please join Miss Julia in singing with SMA’s choir! Rehearsals are every Monday and Wednesday at 2:00pm, starting Monday, August 29. Additional rehearsals: 9/7 2:45 and 9/17 at 10am. Prerequisites include: appropriate behavior in all classes and good academic standing. Teacher recommendation based on the prerequisites is required. Click HERE to sign up. Turn in the form to Miss Julia or the school office by Monday, August 29th to be considered.

Schedule for Fridays (minimum days)

Student who are staying for the pizza lunch (12-12:30) will be brought to the front of the green gate entrance for pick-up. Pick up Mad Science students at the 2nd grade classroom at 1:30pm using the Extended Care entrance. After school activities conclude at 2:30pm. Please pick up your child using the Extended Care entrance. Students staying past 2:30 will be registered in Extended Care.
