Dear SMA Community,
It's official! SMA has received full accreditation through the year 2030. All of our hard work these past 3 years aligning to the National Standards and Benchmarks for Effective Catholic Elementary and Secondary Schools (NSBECS) has paid off. It was not easy and those who hung on throughout the process are truly appreciated! Many long hours, missed family dinners, broken pencils, sleepless nights, and lots of chocolate and caffeine may have been consumed over these few years.
Now what? We get time back to focus on moving forward with our action plan and grow as a team, collecting evidence in an organized way (now that we have our Google drives all set up) as we proceed through the school year. We were one of the first Catholic schools in the Diocese to utilize this new protocol and feel we have mastered it. Learning the protocol was difficult and took a toll on our faculty/staff who were also putting their full energy into teaching. But, we persevered and are better for it!
Our action plan includes creating a strategic plan (including facilities, technology, financial, and educational program), improving our behavior management program, creating common assessments, and ensuring all students, parents, and faculty know the meaning of and live out the school mission.
Summer Blessings,
Jennifer Miller
