SMA Prep News
Middle School Campus
Here's what is happening at the Prep:

Dear Families,

Thank you to everyone who joined us at Open House last week! It was a pleasure to see so many new faces along with our returning families. Your enthusiasm and commitment to your child's education is evident.

The diversity of our cadets and families is a strength of our learning community. Each day we have an opportunity to learn from each other and appreciate what makes us unique. I hope you will join us as we celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month where each week we will share about the Hispanic and Latino cultures and traditions.

I invite you to take a moment to read more about this special month and the many other activities happening at SMA Prep. You can also follow what's happening through our posts on Facebook , Instagram , and Twitter .

As always, thanks for being a part of #ourSMA family!

Hispanic Heritage Month
September 15 - October 15

SMA-MAJ Santana’s classes are celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month by honoring Hispanics, their cultures, traditions and livelihood.   The students created Huichol yarn paintings similar to the colorful decorations that the Huichol People of Mexico make for commercial purposes.  The Huichol people use symbols and designs for their yarn art which date back centuries. The purpose of the Huichol yarn art has changed from religious to commercial purposes over the years. #ourSMA
Prep Eco Team

Members of the Prep Eco Team were busy this week placing bird houses and feeders around campus as part of our Certified Schoolyard Habitat.

They also prepared Red Mangrove propagules (brought in by SMA-MAJ Walker's classes) for cultivation. This year already, Prep has received requests from two restoration groups for over 3000 mangroves which will be picked up later this semester!
