SMA Prep News
Middle School Campus
Here's what is happening at the Prep:
Dear Families,

Our school community reaches beyond the walls of the school, to the families and community members who connect with us in so many ways. We are fortunate to have a strong and caring network of parents who are as passionate about education as we are! One of our first Parent Teacher Cadet Council (PTCC) activities is coming up next week with the Fall Book Fair. If you haven't had a chance to volunteer yet, this is the perfect opportunity! We hope that you will consider signing up through the link listed below.

There are many little ways to enlarge your child’s world. Love of books is the best of all.  —Jacqueline Kennedy
Our campus will be buzzing with activity next week. Be sure to connect with one of our social media pages to see what's happening.

Thank you for being a part of our community of readers!

Prep Cadets Collect Red Mangrove Propagules
Sixth grade cadets have been collecting Red Mangrove propagules for bay replenishment projects in SMA-MAJ Walker's Agriscience classes. Two cadets have gone above and beyond expectations, bringing in over 3000 props between them! Timothy Porak and Jayla Galvan went to local beaches, collected mangrove props, rinsed, counted and carried them to school. Thanks go to both of them for their contribution to our environmental cause!

Club 28 is hosting this year’s Character Day on September 26th! Character Day is a global initiative where people of all ages participate in events focusing on the science of character development from different perspectives and the importance of developing character strengths. This event was created by “Let it Ripple” and Tiffany Shlain, one of this year’s Project Inspire speakers. SMA Prep cadets will be spending the day learning about different character traits through discussions and hands on activities. Be on the lookout for our final poster showing some ways to strengthen those traits.
