SMA Prep Weekly
Middle School Campus
Dear Families,

As we wrapped up the open enrollment period, it was exciting to send out our acceptance invitations for next year's class of 6th grade cadets! We're looking at another full house of enthusiastic students and families who are eager to join our SMA community next year. Welcome!
We received exciting news this week when it was announced that the well in South Sudan was complete! Thank you to the Prep Interact Club and their teacher leadership, SMA-CPT Neff, SMA-MAJ Pelletier, and SMA-CPT Clancy for their dedication in seeing this project through to the end.

If you haven't heard yet, our boys soccer team is heading to the playoffs next week! We hope everyone will join us on Tuesday, March 5th for the first game of the playoffs.

Have a great weekend!

~ Major Becky Morris, Assistant Head of School

Learning in Action: Agriscience

SMA-MAJ Walker's Agriscience classes enjoyed their harvest of Deep Water Culture lettuce last week. After setting up the hydroponic system with 2 week old seedlings, the lettuce took only 21 days to reach maturity. Lettuce planted in the soil will take another month to mature. Hydroponic crops grow bigger and faster because the nutrients are made more accessible to the roots . . . and they taste great!

SMA Raiders 2nd Annual Rise & Run 5K

Thank you to our community, SMA families, and sponsors for supporting the 2nd Annual Rise & Run 5K! It was a perfect day for a race in support our SMA Raiders and Jr. Raiders. A huge SHOUTOUT to Coach Jackie Sharkey-Trecartin and MSG (Ret) Johnny Browning for your dedication in bringing it all together!

Soccer Results

Last week, the undefeated boys soccer team racked up another win against arch rival SSAS beating them 5-1. The ball stayed on SSAS's half of the field most of the game wearing down their defense. SMA goals were scored by Jonah Patterson, Luca Patarini and Max Farrugia. Outstanding defensive kicks by Unai Wantanabe and goal keeping by Noe Salazar had a huge impact on this Eagles win.

This week, the boys soccer team finished the regular season 7 and 0 by defeating Imagine North Port 5-1. Scoring goals for the Eagles were Max Farrigua, Luca Patarini, Unai Wantanabe, Matthew Bickel, and Kique Perales. Great job Eagles!
