SMA Prep Weekly
Middle School Campus
Dear Families,
We know everyone is ready for the last week of school! Thank you for supporting our learning community and encouraging your children to do their best throughout the year.
We celebrated our spring athletes today at our awards program. Congratulations to everyone for a great season!

Summer assignments are ready and posted to the SMA website . Returning students will be provided with their reading log and setup in Khan Academy next week to assist in getting started. New cadets for next year will also participate and have special instructions on how to participate. Additionally, there is a math placement test coming up in June for our new cadets. See the schedule below for more information.

I'm looking forward to seeing our families of 8th grade cadets at the Tuesday evening Promotion Ceremony!

Jr. Raiders Wraps Up The Season
The Jr. Raiders had an amazing year and we enjoyed celebrating their achievements at the awards ceremony this past Thursday. Recognition covered several categories from Raider of the Year to Most Motivated. Our commander Taja Meideros lead the award ceremony along with her First Sergeant John Sabin and Executive Officer Alyssa Howe. They have been with the program all 3 years and have done an outstanding job!

Congrats to our new leaders next year: Toby Schwenk, Haylei Hunderup, and Jackson Watrobsky.

We are proud of all our Jr. Raiders for a great season! Looking forward to next year!

Summer Assignments 2019

The goal of reading throughout the summer is to establish strong reading habits and to foster a love of literature.

The goal for math is to build skills by mastering topics in your Khan Academy mission throughout the summer. The number of skills mastered will become the record of your summer work.

Memorial Day Parade
Monday, May 27, 2019

We encourage all cadets, parents, friends, staff, and faculty to join us for the Memorial Day Parade on Monday, May 27th! We will be meeting at the high school campus (801 N. Orange Ave.). Parking will not be available on campus, therefore, we recommend that you arrive no later than 8:30 AM. After a brief formation, we will depart for the staging area by 9:15 AM. The parade begins at 10:00 AM down Main Street in downtown Sarasota. We estimate that we should return to the high school campus no later than 11:00 AM. Please be ready to pick cadets at this time.

Prep Dress Uniforms (class B) are expected for all cadets, faculty, and staff. Please remember, this is not a school day so buses and lunches are not provided.

Water Donations Needed!

In an effort to keep everyone hydrated, we kindly ask for bottled water donations for the parade. Please drop off water at the office by May 23rd so that we have time to transport to the high school.
