Please note the Tuesday, November 20th deadline to sponsor a wreath for the Wreaths Across America ceremony. We need your help to reach the goal of having a wreath for each gravesite. You can

As we approach this season of thanksgiving, our hearts are grateful to see our cadets so eager to help others in need. This is especially true with the hard work of our Interact Club. Thank you to the club's advisors, Carol Pelletier, Jennifer Neff, and Jane Clancy, for their incredible dedication in mentoring and supporting our cadets' community service efforts!
And THANK YOU, our SMA families, for all you do to support our Academy!

Veterans Day Parade 2018
Thank you to everyone who joined us at the downtown Sarasota Veterans Day Parade and honoring our nation's veterans!

Wreaths Across America
DEADLINE: TUESDAY, NOV. 20TH
Please join Sarasota Military Academy in honoring our nations resting veterans, by sponsoring a wreath for the National Cemetery. By doing this, you will help us to honor our veterans and support SMA at the same time. Five dollars from every wreath comes back to SMA to help support cadet activities.
Cadets will have the opportunity to earn a shirt to wear on Fridays during the months of November and December. They can also enter our "Thank a Veteran" coloring contest by submitting the coloring page enclosed in the packet they received. Please turn in all wreath forms and coloring contest to the main office. Thank you for your support!

Learning in Action: Acid Base Lab
Students identified 20 mystery household chemical solutions to be acidic, basic, or neutral using two types of indicators for pH and had to define the ranges available for the acids, bases, and neutral categories using content knowledge from earlier this week. Students finalized their lab by creating neutralization reactions with combinations of strong and weak acids and bases.

Prep Sports Results
Cross Country:
At the November 9th meet both girls and boys teams placed 2nd all around! This is an outstanding accomplishment. Bringing home top ribbons were: Taja Medeiros, Alexandra Ries, Toby Schwenk, Matthew Bickel. Congrats, job well done!

Prep Cross Country
No practice on Tuesday, November 20th - please support the kickoff fundraiser at Chipolte on Fruitville Rd. Keep your run log over break.
Prep Soccer Club
The soccer club will begin November 28th. The club will meet on Wednesdays from 4:30 to 5:30. This is a great chance to work on skill development, physical conditioning and game play before the team tryouts the second week of January. The cost is $25. Turn your money and registration form in to Coach Smith to sign up.
Prep Wrestling Team
Anyone interested in signing up for the wrestling team should see Coach Smith to sign up. The team will begin the first week of December.

Rise and Run 5K
February 16, 2019
SMA Raiders 2nd Annual Rise and Run 5K and sponsorship and registration is up on the main website. We are looking for families and businesses that are interested in sponsoring and having names advertised on the race shirt. The first order of shirts is in December. This is a great way to advertise and show your support for both schools.It is open for donors, sponsors or to register for the run on February 16, 2019. Please contact

Ducks Unlimited
Club members had a blast on their first joint camp out with the SMA High School club members. Members should continue the on line fire arm safety course that was started. The group learned many interesting outdoor skills, along with archery.
A night scavenger hunt and s'mores were enjoyed by all.
Thank you to all the staff that volunteered to make this successful, fun and safe!
Next meeting is December 12.

Enrollment Information Meetings
8:30-9:30 AM
Please share with neighbors and friends that are interested in their child attending SMA Prep that our Enrollment Information Meetings start promptly at 8:30 AM and end by 9:30 AM. Let them know to bring their inquiring student to hear directly from Prep Cadets about campus life at the Prep.

The SMA Board of Directors will hold a board meeting on December 13, 2018 at 2:30 pm in the conference room on the high school campus.

Gently-Used Clothes Closet
Uniform donations are greatly appreciated throughout the year. This allows us to continue offering a selection of sizes at a reduced cost of $7 per item. Please bring items you wish to donate to the office during office hours.
We are taking appointments for anyone wanting to purchase a gently-used uniform. Please call our office at 941-877-7737 to make your appointment.
