SMA Prep Weekly
Middle School Campus
Here's what is happening at the Prep:
Dear Families,

This week provided another opportunity to celebrate the learning achievements of our cadets. Congratulations to Brandon Jenkins for his perfect score on the science FSA and to four more cadets (Ivy Mchoul, Nickolas Bittar, Nadia Johnson, Lauryn Walker) for mastering 100+ skills in Khan Academy this summer!
We hope you will join us on Thursday for our Hispanic Heritage Night. This is a wonderful way to bring our SMA community together as a finale to our month-long celebration.

A reminder that the end of first quarter is Monday, Oct. 15th and that Friday is a professional day so there are no classes.

As always, thank you for supporting our community of learners!

MAJ Becky Morris, Assistant Head of School
Prep cadets and faculty supported Pink & Orange Day for #breastcancerawareness and #bullyingprevention month.

Dear Parents,

A team will be at SMA Prep, Thursday, November 1st in the conference room from 1:00 pm until 3:00 pm to administer the flu shot to the students. This is a great opportunity for the parents not to be charged for a doctor visit. Please protect your child from the flu. If your cadet gets the flu, they might be out for weeks. The forms are being sent home. Please fill out the form and send it back in the office. These shots are FREE. Please keep your child healthy.

Please click here for the form in English.

Bullying Prevention Banner Contest
October 8 - 18
The SMA Prep Counseling Program is sponsoring a Bullying Prevention Banner Contest open to all cadets. The contest will run from October 8th to October 18th.

Banners should communicate a positive anti-bullying message using a variety of artistic designs and media which can include drawing, painting, computer graphics, photography, or any combination. Somewhere in your art, display the hashtag #BullyingPrevention.

Banners should be created in landscape format on legal-size (14” x 8 ½”) paper or card stock. Legal-size paper is available in the office. Be sure to write your name and grade on the back of the entry to receive credit. You may submit up to three entries.

Final designs should be submitted to either SMA-CPT Benitez in Room 501 or SMA-CPT Sacchetti in Room 500C no later than 4:15 PM on October 18th. Late entries will not be accepted.

All banners will be celebrated and displayed together on our campus. We will recognize the third place, second place, and Grand Prize winners of the contest, and the Grand Prize winner’s banner will be printed into a larger banner to be displayed at school and become the SMA Prep Facebook Cover Photo!

We look forward to your submissions!
Interact Fundraising Event
Pennies for Patients
By Emily Brooks and Ivy Mchoul

Pennies for Patients was created for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society to help children receive the appropriate treatment and care needed to handle the difficulties of having cancer. The Interact Club is hosting Pennies for Patients at SMA Prep with the help of Olive Garden, the LLS’s sponsor. Because of help that LLS received, 40.3 million dollars have gone towards treatment for children with Leukemia or Lymphoma. To help raise money, you can collect change in your change box at home and/or the one in your first period teacher’s classroom. Remember all donations will go to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and the class that raises the most money will get an ice cream party! We are counting on you SMA prep. You can do it!

Thank you for your support! The fundraiser will last until October 29.
