The month of December is so special at St. Mary's Preschool. We went Christmas caroling at The Promenade, made ornaments for the seniors, had lots of fun making our Gingerbread houses with our parents, and enjoyed delicious holiday treats.
The students were hard at work while awaiting the arrival of Santa Claus!!
Word Time: Squawker helps us build our vocabulary. We finished our chapter - Work and began a new chapter - Health. The students learn the spelling, definition, and pronunciation of words.
Penmanship - The children learn good posture, paper placement, and pencil grip. We reviewed the Starting Corner Capitals by writing the letters in our books. Then, began practicing the Center Starting Capital letters.
Math: We began our chapter - Geometry which is the study of shapes and space. We used our Mix and Make Shapes to create designs and build pictures. The children identify position or location using "in and out" and "before and after". Position words are a key component of Geometry. The students were introduced to ordinal numbers by making a line and talk about where they are in relation to friends.
Language and Literacy: We started a new chapter - Concepts About Print. Students learn to distinguish print from pictures and that both have meaning. They learn to identify parts of a book and learn how to turn pages and read from top to bottom and left to right.
PATHS: We continue to discuss different feelings and that all emotions are OK and important sources of information about their environment and themselves.
Chapel - Father Rick visits us once a week to read us a Bible story, sing songs, and pray with us.
We look forward to another wonderful year.
