You may have heard that our Local at St. Michael’s Medical Center in Newark has issued their employer (Prime Healthcare) a 10-day strike notice-with a job action commencing on Monday, May 23rd. You also know that Prime owns both St. Michael’s and St. Mary’s General Hospital. It is imperative that we support our sisters and brothers at St. Mike’s during this tenuous time. However, Prime will undoubtedly seek to staff St. Mike’s with those healthcare workers from the outside. This may include our members at St. Mary’s.
IT IS IMPORTANT THAT YOU SAY, “NO!”
Management at St. Mike’s has already engaged in action befitting several Unfair Labor Practice (ULP) charges filed against them by the Union. If you are approached by management to work at St. Michael’s, notify us immediately. Our Locals are strong and support one another. One way to show our support for them is to help them reach a fair collective bargaining agreement.
