Anthony S. Fauci, MD, former director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, delivered the keynote address for the Annual Clinical Public Health Summit on HIV. Joining Fauci for the three-day summit were representatives from the Center for Aids Research Community Advisory Board, officials from the National Alliance of State and Territorial AIDS Directors, and Marissa Robinson, DrPH, initiative coordinator of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services program Ending the HIV Epidemic.

Study Reveals a Protein Called Snail May Play a Role in Healing Brain Injuries

Researchers, led by Robert Miller, PhD, the Vivian Gill Distinguished Research Professor and vice dean of the George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences, recently identified Snail, a transcription factor or protein, as a key player in the coordination of the repair response of brain cells following an injury to the central nervous system. The findings were published in Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences Nexus.
