LaQuandra S. Nesbitt, MD, MPH, immediate-past director of DC Health, has been named as the new executive director of the George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences Center for Population Health Sciences and Health Equity. In this role, Nesbitt will oversee the academic medical enterprise’s research, education, and community engagement programs to establish a premier academic center in applied population health research to address health inequities.
Julie E. Bauman, MD, MPH, associate dean of cancer and professor of medicine at the George Washington University (GW) School of Medicine and Health Sciences was installed as the Dr. Cyrus Katzen Family Director of the GW Cancer Center.

Bauman arrived in March 2022 from the University of Arizona (UA). There she served as professor of medicine, chief of hematology/oncology and medical director of oncology services, as well as deputy director of the UA Comprehensive Cancer Center.
The George Washington University (GW) School of Medicine and Health Sciences (SMHS) and LifeBridge Health signed an agreement to establish a new Regional Medical Campus (RMC) for the GW SMHS MD Program. The new RMC will be based at Sinai Hospital of Baltimore and home to a cohort of third- and fourth-year medical students who have opted to spend their clinical years there. The new campus will provide GW medical students the opportunity to train in a community-focused health system with strong emphasis on primary and continuity care in a population health environment.
The George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences Physician Assistant (PA) Program celebrated its golden anniversary in October. The weekend highlighted the PA program’s significant achievements over the past 50 years in education, research, health care delivery, and the advancement of the profession. The celebration featured social-networking activities, a panel discussion featuring former program directors and alumni, continuing medical education opportunities, an awards banquet.
