Ellen M. Granberg Formally Installed as 19th President of George Washington University

Current and former university leaders, trustees, alumni, and family gathered to witness university history as Ellen M. Granberg, PhD, was officially installed as the 19th president of the George Washington University (GW). As she stepped to the center stage in the Charles E. Smith Center for her investiture ceremony, Granberg noted the awesome responsibility before her — building upon the university’s storied 200-year history and expanding GW’s positive influence in the nation’s capital and around the world.

GW SMHS Physician Assistant Program Earns ARC-PA National Accreditation

The Department of Physician Assistant Studies at the George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences recently completed its reaccreditation process with the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA) earning “continuing accreditation,” the highest level granted by the ARC-PA, for a period of 10 years.

Endowed Professorship Installation: Philanthropy that Advances the Academic Medical Enterprise

The George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences installed three faculty members in endowed positions: Jeffrey S. Akman, MD ’81, RESD ’85, as the Leon M. Yochelson Chair of Psychiatry and Behavioral Health; John Bethea, PhD, as the King Fahd II Chair of Anatomy and Cell Biology; and Mardi Gomberg-Maitland, MD, as the Walter G. Ross Professor of Clinical Research.
