In this week’s scripture God tells Abram (aka Abraham) to move away from his home; God doesn’t tell Abram where to go, but He promises to bless him and make him a blessing. What a strange call: “Just pick a direction, and I’ll let you know when you get to where you’re going.” Abram is walking along in the dark, constantly listening for guidance from God. For Abram, God’s guidance comes from visions and building altars, but what does God’s guidance look like in our lives? How do we check-in with God to ask, “Am I going the right way?”
Ever-present God, through the Holy Spirit, You walk with us in times of uncertainty and change. As we step into newness, teach us how to seek Your guidance and help us to hear Your call. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.
