Current members who are eligible for reappointment must submit an application for the 2023-2024 term. Even if you previously submitted an application and there are no changes, you must complete the online form. The deadline for submissions is 11:59 p.m. on Monday, June 5, 2023.

A Better Exit, a new nonprofit organization in California, is working to broaden California’s End of Life Option Act. (EOLOA). California, along with nine other states, has Medical Aid in Dying (MAiD) laws modeled on legislation first passed in Oregon 26 years ago. In California, the only people who can legally obtain medication to end their lives are those with a terminal illness and less than six months to live. This restriction rules out anyone with dementia or many neurological disorders.
A Better Exit is planning to request changes to the current law via a legislative bill in 2024. To learn more about the proposal, visit ABetterExit.org. Summary information is also available in the attached flier.

CMA Data Exchange Explainer Series #3: Deep Dive into the Data Exchange Framework and Data Sharing Agreement
In January 2023, the California Health and Human Services Agency (CHHS) launched the CHHS Data Exchange Framework (DxF). Over the next three years, this framework will require all physician practices in California to exchange data with other practices, health plans, hospitals, and others. To help physicians prepare for this change, CMA has partnered with CHHS to develop the “CMA Data Exchange Explainer Series.”
In this webinar, we build on webinar 1 and 2 data exchange foundational knowledge and dive into the DxF requirements, implementation, and technical and funding resources. This webinar will also include an update on the latest DxF developments and important dates practices will need to know.
