What are you thankful for this year? I am deeply grateful for our incredible physician leaders who dedicate their time and expertise to strengthen and uplift our medical community. A special thanks to Drs. Warren Chin, Brad Drexler, Rachel Mayorga, Indranushi Chaliha, Harjot Bhandal, Marshall Kubota, Gigi Magan Mendoza, and Robert Martinez for their commitment at the recent CMA House of Delegates conference in Sacramento. With meetings starting as early as 7 a.m. and going late into the evening, their dedication reflects a resilience and commitment that is inspiring to all of us.

As election week approaches, let’s embrace the blessings of this season, appreciating the grace we can extend to one another across political divides. No matter how the elections unfold, may we find unity in our shared purpose as healthcare professionals, supporting one another with empathy and kindness. Here’s to a season of gratitude, solidarity, and more opportunities to connect with each other and with our loved ones. See the photo montage below for some wonderful moments from the conference, and thank you all for the work you do every day.

Yours in health and service,

Wendy Davies

2025 PHYSICIAN LEADERSHIP PROGRAM

Today’s dynamic healthcare environment requires physicians to be effective leaders to ensure organizational and individual success. The Northern California Medical Association Physician Leadership Program addresses the fact that physicians are, and should be, placed in roles with organizational responsibility, but have limited formal opportunities to learn the concepts, skills, and tools of leadership. The Leadership Program runs from Feb. 22–23, 2025 (in person) and then continues with virtual sessions in March, April and May 2025.

Course Cost: $1,600 with participants receiving up to 22.5 hours of educational training.

SMLMA offers a scholarship opportunity for one SMLMA physician member, providing reimbursement upon successful completion of the program and verification of participation. Email this completed scholarship questionnaire to exec@SMLMA.org.
