News for Mrs. Sims

The Lenten season began with our beautiful Ash Wednesday service this week.  Students, faculty, and parents were reminded that the cross we wear on our foreheads that day is a symbol of our love for God and His love for us all.  Lent is a time of prayer, fasting, and almsgiving in our church.  It is a time to prepare ourselves for the sacrifice that Jesus made for us on the cross and, most importantly, His resurrection.

Parents are the primary educators of their children.  We lead by example in word and deed.  Lent is the perfect time to teach our children about prayer, gratitude, and service to others.  It is a time to rest in quiet contemplation and focus our energies on just being together.  You don't necessarily have to give something up, but what about taking on something new that shares God's love with others?  My prayer for you this Lenten season is that you are able to stop, breathe, listen, and love more fully than ever.

God Bless You and Your Family,
Wendy Sims
Talking to Children About School Shootings

SMM Parents,
As a parent, you may be struggling with how to talk with your children about the recent school shooting. It is important to remember that children look to their parents to make them feel safe. This is true no matter what age your children are, be they toddlers, adolescents or even young adults. The following information will help open the dialogue with your child.
Blessings,
Mrs. Brenda Clark, MS, LPCC, NCC
