News from Mrs. Sims
It is almost that time of year again; the time to give our students the Terra Nova standardized test.  The Terra Nova will be administered this year to grades 3 through 7 during the weeks of March 7 th and 14 th.   This test measures basic skills that are taught across the country.  It helps us to assess student achievement and learning over time.  It is also used to assess our program and the materials we use. Our students consistently do very well on this test, scoring above the national and archdiocesan averages.  It is a great time for them to show what they know!
There are several steps that you can take to help us maximize student performance on the test.  These include:
  • Parents can make sure their child gets a good night's rest and eats a healthy breakfast.
  • Parents should keep a positive attitude about tests.
  • Make sure your child gets up early enough so he or she is on time. Don't schedule morning appointments.
  • It is also important for parents to talk with their child about tests to help reduce stress about test-taking.
  • Praise your child for effort and a positive attitude.
  • Encourage him or her to do his/her best.
May God Bless You and Your Family,
Wendy Sims
