SMM Swimming Mustangs!

The 2018 CSAA Swim Championships took place on Saturday, March 3 at the U of L Ralph Wright Natatorium. 
The St. Margaret Mary swim team did exceptionally well and captured a 3rd place team finish out of 17 schools Every swimmer contributed to the team's success, and a few stood out finishing in the top 3 in their individual or relay events.  Great Job!

Clean out your closets!
We Need Your Old Shoes!
Collecting Next Week - March 19-23

Next week, March 19-23 the school will be collecting used shoes of all types for WaterStep. WaterStep is an organization that sells used shoes to help fund safe water projects all over the world. 
All   types of shoes will be accepted. Please tie the shoes together and bring them to school.  The winning grade will get to have a free PJ day!  Thank you for your help for this great cause!
On Sunday, March 11 at the Cathedral of the Assumption the Girl Scouts of Kentuckiana, along with presider Fr. Bill Hammer, recognized troops in our area who earned the Catholic Religious Award for their age group.  A special adult recognition was also given to SMM adult leader Kristie Ayre who was awarded the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton medal for her excellence in service to the Girl Scout of Kentuckian and St. Margaret Mary.  To view a list of the 40 St. Margaret  Mary students who earned their Catholic Religious Awards, please click here.

Pet Supply Drive!
Wednesday, March 28 ONLY
The 6th graders are helping My Dog Eats First, a program which helps the homeless by providing pet food and supplies for their pets by collecting and distributing these items. 

All SMM students JK-8th who make a donation will be able to wear free dress on Wednesday, March 28. 
Donations should be brought to school only on the morning of Wednesday, March 28 and placed in the collection boxes at the school office. Please DO NOT bring the donated items prior to the collection day.
Suggested items include: dry or canned cat and dog food, dog treats, basic cat litter (not the scoop type), leashes, and collars. 
Congratulations to SMM alumnus Casey Colley (SMM class of 2016), and current students and teammates, Quinn Nickell (8C) and Daniel Hasselwander (7B) on their accomplishment with Louisville Fury Volleyball! Their teams are nationally ranked and have won bids to compete this summer at Volleyball Nationals in Phoenix, Arizona!

As a fundraiser, the teams are hosting the "First Annual Comedy Night" in the SMM gym on Friday, April 13th. For more information click here.

Hearing & Scoliosis Screening Volunteers Needed
Wednesday, March 21

We are looking for parent volunteers to assist with our hearing and scoliosis screenings on Wednesday, March 21st from 8:00-11:30 a.m.
  • Grades 1-3 will be screened for hearing (approx. 5 volunteers)
  • Grades 6-8 will be screened for scoliosis. (approx. 4 volunteers)

Mom Prom
All-Star Sports Night

New this year we will be crowning a Prince and Queen of the Mom Prom. All boys in the 8th grade that pre-register for the Mom Prom will be put on a ballot. Every boy attending the dance will be able to vote once for the couple of their choice. The couple receiving the most votes will be Prince and Queen of the Mom Prom! 
Registration must be received by Thursday, March 22 to qualify.
