Starting with this newsletter, our new families that will be joining us in the fall will be receiving our weekly Friday Newsletter. We are excited for you to join us!
Important Information
Preparing for Year End

Library Books
Next week Mrs. Justice will send notifications home for all library books that have not been returned.  All books must be returned or paid for by Wednesday, May 25, otherwise, your child will be unable to participate in field day.

Lunch Accounts
All lunch accounts must be paid in full and have a positive or zero balance at the end of the year.  When making deposits to your child's lunch account, please keep in mind that lunches will be served until Wednesday, May 25. There are 3 days left to purchase lunch, so your child's account must have $7.95 in the account if they plan to eat each of those days.  
  • All students must be paid by Wednesday, May 25 or the student will not be permitted to participate in Field Day on May 26.
SMM Baseball Spiritwear

School Supplies 2016-2017
Deadline Thursday, May 26

We are pleased to offer you the option to purchase your pre-packaged school supplies this spring for the 2016-17 school year.
Please click here to access the order form. Orders and payment are due to the school office by Thursday, May 26.

Pre-packaged supplies will be in your child's classroom on Student Orientation Day, Sunday, August 14.
School Uniform
Additions / Changes

Starting in the fall, there will be some uniform additions and changes. Shaheens will be carrying items with our new logo. The new items will be phased in over the next two years, so they are not mandatory except for buying the new red t-shirt that will be used as the PE uniform and needed for field trips. Lastly, a 10% discount will be offered to our SMM families on clothing from  June 15 - 30, 2016.

         SMM Field Day Thursday,  May 26th             
Please be here for a day of FUN!!

Mark your calendars for a fun filled field day to wrap up our school year. This is not a day for winners and ribbons but one for activities that put smiles on EVERYONE'S faces. As well as traditional games, there will be dancin' DJ, two inflatable's, face painting, bubbles, streetball, tennis and a craft to do in the art room.
Each child is asked to bring a bagged lunch that day as the cafeteria will not be open.  Refreshments will be sold by the 7th grade class during the activities, proceeds to benefit their 8th grade trip: popcorn, water, and snow cones. (All items are $1.00 - $2.00) Please put your student's money in a plastic Ziploc bag with their name on it. Do not send large bills!

In order to keep classes in the appropriate areas and to help monitor this day, we ask for your assistance in following the dress code for field day fun.  Sneakers are a MUST, appropriate length athletic shorts, a nd tee shirts according to class colors. Yes, the shirts may have appropriate print or lettering on them. Students may wear a hat that day.  

K: Yellow
2:  Purple
1:  Red
3:  Blue -royal or navy
4.  Grey
5:  Black or Tie dye
6:  White
7th grade station leaders: 
front activities (orange),    back activities (green)
7th grade guides: either red  or purple (depending on their class)
All proceeds from the concession stand go to the 8th grade trips. Each 7th grade student is asked to donate $5.00 towards the items sold that day.

MenT.O.R.S. Meeting w/ University of Louisville Football
Adversity, Personal Discipline, Leadership, and Influential Relationships

The MenT.O.R.S. Group will be meeting on May 22 from 6:30 - 8:00 pm at the Schnellenberger Football Complex for a talk, tour, and some fun with the University of Louisville football program. This month's topic will focus on Adversity, Personal Discipline, Leadership, and Influential Relationships . Join us, along with some current members of the University of Louisville football program as we hear personal stories, share guiding principles, and have some fun exploring the inner working of the program. See the facilities, the locker room and run on the field. A great night of fellowship, meaning, and some great pictures and fun. Because we are guests to the University, please respond with an RSVP so we can better assess the number in attendance. The  more the merrier. We hope to see you there!

Congratulations to Lily Grace O'Daniel, too!

UPDATE:  Lily Grace O'Daniel (5H)
also competed with Annie Thompson (8S) and Allie Cornett (8S) in Dance Worlds Competition in Orlando on April 27-28. They dance for The Vision Dance Center, and their Junior Lyrical dance called "Yellow Brick Road" was one of only 6 routines in the US that were given bids to compete in this international competition. They placed  second in the competition. We are very proud of Lily Grace, Annie & Allie's hard work and dedication!
