News from Mrs. Sims
One goal we have set for our School Improvement Plan reads, "To implement a school-wide system of positive and consistent behavior management that supports the character development of our students". We hope to create and maintain a more peaceful learning environment and focus our students on respect for themselves, others and property. The teachers have worked with the students the first couple weeks of school by setting and modeling behavior expectations for the classrooms, hallways, stairwells, cafeteria and playground. We will focus on these high expectations throughout the school year while continuing to support the character development of the children. The students are responding well to the new rules. I am very proud of their effort and good manners! Thank you for your support in this endeavor.
We are very happy that SMM will celebrate Grandparents' Day on Tuesday Sept. 8th for our students in grades K-4. As you can imagine, this is very exciting for the children, and it takes a lot of volunteers to make it happen. The grandparents that visit each year bring such joy to our young students! The unconditional love and support that grandparents show their grandchildren is a definite gift from God. We are so blessed that the grandparents at SMM support our school in so many ways. Thank you to our PTO for making this happen each year.
May God Bless You and Your Family,
Wendy Sims

As we begin the school year, please remember that if you would like to volunteer your time in any capacity (such as cafeteria, room parent, field trip chaperone, etc.) you must have completed a background check and the Safe Environment Training Honor Thy Children Workshop (see below).  If you have any questions, please contact the parish office at (502) 426-2635.

After School Activities

If your student will be staying for any after school activity or practice, please read the following information carefully:
Children of grades K-4 :  The parents must write a note daily (this may be done in the assignment notebook) stating that your child will be staying for the activity/practice.  If there is no note, your child will go home by their main mode of afternoon transportation.
* Children of grades 5-8 :  If your child has an activity that occurs weekly, you may write one blanket note to the teacher with all practice dates that will allow your child to stay after school for these events.
As written in the handbook, if the child forgets his/her note, they will not be allowed to call home to receive permission to stay after school.  Thanks for your attention to this matter.
