If your children currently ride the bus, you should have received an email on Tuesday, April 9 with complete instructions on registering to ride the bus for the 2019-20 school year. If your family currently does NOT have bus service, your window to register will be after Monday, April 29. Current bus riders do receive priority.

Volunteers Needed

Volunteers are needed in the Cafeteria to help serve food on the line through the end of the school year. The greatest need is on Monday & Wednesdays. The shift is 10:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.  Please contact Gail Shackleford at foodservice@stmm.org.

Thank you for the generous donations  in support of the AHS-SHA Pink & White Powder Puff Game tonight.  $1,071.24 was raised for the Davey Albright Scholarship Fund at Trinity High School. SMM is such a wonderfully generous  community!

2018-19 Book Fees  
Coming Soon!

Please be on the lookout for an email that Book Fees are coming due for the 2019-20 school year. The window to pay for Book Fees will be May 17 - May 31. The base fee per child will be $550. Incoming 6th, 7th, 8th graders will have an additional $110 Chromebook fee. The JK book fee is $275. 
Have Box Tops? 

We are still collecting! If you would like to get Box Tops off your hands before summer break, please count and send them in marked baggies OR print a collection sheet.

Big changes are coming to Box Tops for the 2019-20 school year, and earning money for SMM will be even easier, so be on the lookout!

Any student making a monetary donation may wear a baseball cap to school on Wednesday, May 1. 

All donations will go to the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation via Jack Pilbean (SMM Class of 2018). Jack's sister is 6th grader Annie Pilbean. 

As a 4th grader at SMM, Jack was diagnosed at the age of 10 with ulcerative colitis. Since that time he and his Take Steps walk team (JP's Porcelain Punishers) has raised over $20,000 for the CCF.
Checks may be made payable to Crohn's & Colitis Foundation.

We Need Your Old Shoes!
Collection extended  to Monday, April 29!

The 4th grade will be collecting used shoes for our annual WaterStep collection. WaterStep is an organization that sells used shoes to an exporter to help fund safe water projects all over the world.  All types of shoes (free of mold/mildew) will be accepted. Athletic shoes are preferred, but any shoes or boots are welcome. 

Please tie the shoes together and bring them to school. Thank you for your help for this great cause!
Art Fair 

Mrs. Amy Burch has been working hard getting each student's artwork organized and prepared for the SMM Art Fair. Each student chooses one work of art from their portfolio to be entered in the contest. An outside judge is brought in to judge the pieces, and 1st - 3rd, as well as honorable mention ribbons, are awarded for each grade level. Students will have the opportunity to visit the Art Fair during the school day.  The Art Fair is open for viewing for parents/visitors on:

7th Grade DUKE Tip
Participants and Recognition 

Congratulations to our 7th grade students who participated in the Duke University Talent Identification Program this winter. We had 34 students take the ACT or SAT college entrance exam. 

Of those, 8 students have been recognized for receiving scores at the State Recognition Level.

Field Day Fun  
Wednesday, May 22

Our 7th grade students and PE teacher have a great day of fun and frolicking planned for Field Day.  Activities include face painting, inflatables, a visit with the University of Louisville soccer team and many other games!

JK and K teachers will be reaching out to their students' parents for specific volunteer opportunities. 

This year, t-shirts are being donated by Kristen George of George Orthodontics. Students are dressed in shirt colors according to grade level to help keep everyone organized.

  • Yearbooks are $33.00 this school year.
  • If you order two books, each yearbook is $31.00
  • If you order three or more, each yearbook is $30

Archdiocesan Victim Assistance Ministry 
April is Child Abuse Prevention Month

Did you know that outreach to victims of sexual abuse is one of the ministries in the Archdiocese? Martine Siegel, the archdiocesan Victim Assistance Coordinator in the Family Ministries Office, provides victims with assistance towards healing. If now or at any time in the past someone representing the Church has sexually abused you, please contact the police and Ms. Siegel at 502/636-1044 or victimassistance@archlou.org .
