News from Mrs. Sims

This week in mass, Fr. Bill talked to the students about honoring the cross because it symbolizes God's great love for us. We can all be symbols of Christ's love each day. You and your children have shown this recently in your selfless giving during our charitable collections. As I walk the halls and visit the classrooms, I see Christ in your children and the staff members. They care for and support each other. They are excited about learning and work hard to do their best. They have been kind and helpful. They are finding the wonder in each day and in each person. We are so blessed!

The teachers have completed their Professional Growth Plans for the year. They worked in teams and individually to set goals in the areas of Catholic Identity, Teaching/Learning, and School Specific goals. Your school staff is committed to excellence and continuous improvement.  Together, we are working with students on kindness and empathy. We are also implementing our STREAM focus for the school year. We've had such a positive beginning to this school year!

May God Bless You and Your Family,
Wendy Sims

Life and Dignity of the Human Person
Step by Step and Catholic Life Issues present
1 of 6 in a video series

Our Catholic Church has a great commitment to social justice at the heart of who we are and what we believe. St. Margaret Mary students all year long participate in hands-on social justice projects and awareness through the Step by Step program. It was named this as the children learn to follow, step by step, in Jesus' footsteps.
As parents teaching our children the Catholic faith, it is important that we be able to communicate Catholic social teaching in its fullness. "The Church's Social Teaching is a rich treasure of wisdom about building a just society and living lives of holiness amidst the challenges of modern society." (USCCB)
To dig a little deeper, this Fall our parish's Catholic Life Issues and Step by Step committees present a 6-part video series on components of Catholic Social Teaching.
Life and Dignity of the Human Person is our first video. Sit back and be inspired by each video. Listen to God's voice. Find a way to share this with your child(ren). What is God going to do through You? How much are you going to let Him do? Please click here to view the video.
