News from Mrs. Sims
St. Margaret Mary School continues to be a school of excellence and pride for our students, families, and staff. Our students and staff members achieve greatness each day in their academics, social interactions, community involvement, and faith development. They are given multiple opportunities to explore and share their gifts. Daily, our children thrive, achieve and succeed at SMM.
One tangible measure of school success and program improvement is in test scores. Students in the Archdiocese take the Terra Nova in grades 3, 5, and 7. SMM students also take the test in grades 4 and 6 to allow for a more consistent picture of our students and programs. The students in the Archdiocese of Louisville on average rank much higher than others in the nation who take this test. We can proudly say that students at St. Margaret Mary School rank even higher than the average scores of the Archdiocese of Louisville. We are so proud of our students!

The one week grace period will end Friday, September 29
Please know that the new system only allows student accounts to be in arrears up to negative $10. After that time, the system locks out the student's ability to purchase a lunch. Since we know that there may be some shock in viewing your child's account, there will be a grace period until Friday, September 29 for your child's account to be brought up to date. Also once their balance goes negative they cannot purchase extra food like milk or snacks etc.

Blessing of the Animals
Wednesday, October 4
In order that our student dismissal runs smoothly that day, please abide by the following:
- Anyone bringing an animal to be blessed is asked to park in the church parking lot, NOT in the regular dismissal line behind the gym/PAC.
- Please let your child's teacher know that he/she will need to be dismissed at 2:15 pm on that day so that they can attend the Blessing. You can send a note or e-mail to the homeroom teacher letting them know that your child will have a pet participating in the Blessing.
- If you have a dog to be blessed, you will need to gather on the end of the football field closest to the church.
- If you have a cat to be blessed, you will need to gather on the end of the football field closest to the PAC.
- All the other animals will need to gather in the middle of the football field.
- Immediately following the Blessing, you and your child/children are dismissed and should proceed to your cars.
- All those students not participating in the Blessing will be dismissed at 2:45 pm
Thanks in advance for your attention to this request! We hope to see you and your pet there.
