Parent Teacher Student Fall Conferences

Our Fall Parent-Teacher-Student (PTS) conferences will be held on Thursday, October 6 from 8:00 am - 8:00 pm. These conferences provide an excellent opportunity for all of us to reflect on the school year to date and on how your child has adjusted to the expectation of his/her learning environment. Forms were due today.  Please click here if you need an additional form.

Students are required to attend the conferences with their parents. This is counted as a day of attendance and students will be marked absent if they do not attend. There will be no regular school on Thursday, October 6, and no school on Friday, October 7, and Monday, October 10.
To further clarify, Thursday, October 6 counts as a school day for students.  If they aren't in attendance on Thursday , October 6, which is fulfilled by attending their conference on that day, the student will receive an unexcused absence.

Individual Student Photo Days

Order forms will be sent home after fall break. The forms are to be returned on the day that your child will have their picture made.
On the day your child will have their portrait made, they are allowed to be in Free Dress clothes; however the
students cannot wear spaghetti strap shirts or tank tops and  everyone must be in closed toed shoes wearing socks or tights. If you student has PE on picture day, please be sure to send in tennis shoes.

If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Delk.
EZ Pay is a great program not only to pay lunch accounts online, but also a great way to:
  • Monitor what your child is buying
  • View the amount of money being spent per day
  • Ability to receive emails when your child's account becomes negative or low on account funds.
It does not cost to view transactions and or the low funds email. The fee that a family incurs is making online payments to your child's account.

Green for Good

Did you know Greenness, such as trees, plants and shrubs, are much more beneficial for you than just something pretty to look at. Greenness can provide health benefits as well. Plants have the ability to act as a natural filter to reduce harmful substances like pollution found in the air. The effects of pollution on people's hearts can lead to an increased risk of heart disease, the number one killer of adults. By increasing Greenness, we may be able to reduce the amount of pollution exposure a person receives and reduce their risk of heart disease. Not only can plants filter the air, they also have the ability to release chemicals, called phytonicides, that can positive effects on heart health. Other positive effects of Greenness are stress reduction, increased sense of wellbeing and a boost to the immune system.  Who knew Green could do some much good?
As a part of the amazing Green for Good project that is happening on the front lawn, SMM student volunteers (ages 9 and up) are needed to participate in a medical research study:

Blessing of the Animals

SMM's Blessing of the Animals will take place on  Tuesday, October 4. The Blessing will take place at 2:15 pm on the football field.

In order that our student dismissal runs smoothly that day, please abide by the following:
  • Anyone bringing an animal to be blessed is asked to park in the church parking lot, NOT in the regular dismissal line behind the gym/PAC.
  • Please let your child's teacher know that he/she will need to be dismissed at 2:15 pm on that day so that they can attend the Blessing. You can send a note or e-mail to the homeroom teacher letting them know that your child will have a pet participating in the Blessing.
  • If you have a dog to be blessed, you will need to gather on the end of the football field closest to the church.
  • If you have a cat to be blessed, you will need to gather on the end of the football field closest to the PAC.
  • All the other animals will need to gather in the middle of the football field.
  • Immediately following the Blessing, you and your child/children are dismissed and should proceed to your cars.
  • All those students not participating in the Blessing will be dismissed at 2:45 pm
Thanks in advance for your attention to this request!  We hope to see you and your pet there.
