News from Mrs. Sims
"Gratitude can transform common days into thanksgivings, turn routine jobs into joy, and change ordinary opportunities into blessings." ~ William Arthur Ward
It is by working as a team that we can truly support the emotional, academic, and spiritual development of the students at St. Margaret Mary School. Next week's PTS conferences give us a wonderful way to connect and strengthen the lines of communication between school and home. You will learn about your child's academic and social progress so far this school year. You will also discuss with your child the goals he or she has set and can talk with the teacher about ways to help at home. The conferences are limited to 15 minutes each to ensure that everyone has a chance to meet. If the need arises for a more in depth conversation, please make a separate appointment so that the teacher has time to truly focus on your child's needs. We want to be considerate of the teacher's time as well as those who are anxiously waiting in the hallway for their turn. I look forward to seeing you next week!
May God Bless You and Your Family,
If you have not heard from your homeroom teacher about getting connected in Remind, please reach out to them. Click here to view a listing of all our faculty and staff.
We would LOVE to have all of our parents utilize this easy system to stay in the loop about tests, projects, and messages about your child's education!
Come visit us during Conferences!
You can also shop online at scholastic.com/fair. Search our school zip code, 40222, and click on St. Margaret Mary. Feel free to share this link with grandparents and extended family to shop for Christmas gifts.
All classes will have a chance to visit the book fair and make purchases during their normally scheduled library time. Please help your student be a responsible consumer and teach them how to be prepared for making a purchase with money. We request that all students who bring money to school for the book fair, bring an envelope labeled with their name, homeroom, amount of money and the words "Book Fair". We will accept cash and checks only during school days. At conferences, we will also accept credit/debit cards.
We look forward to seeing you at the book fair!

Chili Cook Off
Saturday, October 20
6:00 - 10:00 p.m.
Join us for an evening of fun, as the SMM Couple's Ministry hosts a Red and White Chili Cook Off. Bring your best pot of chili to share and see if you can win 1st, 2nd or 3rd prize for the best red and white pots of chili.
The evening will also include a Couples Check-up. We'll have a variety of deacons present to administer the RE-FOCCUS Inventory, an instrument similar to the FOCCUS Inventory given to engaged couples. Like the FOCCUS Inventory, this is a great and valuable tool for
helping married couples refocus their marriage to make it
more satisfying and more intimate.
You do not have to take the RE-FOCCUS inventory to attend. All married and engaged couples with great chili recipes are invited to take part in this fun event!
This event is limited to the first 100 couples, and childcare is limited to 50 children.
Cost: $30 per couple for RE-FOCCUS processing (half of the $60.00 fee). There is no fee to participate
in the Chili Cook-Off.
Contact Deacon Derrick Barnes at
to register for the chili cook-off and childcare; walk-ins for the chili cook-off are welcome.
