News from Mrs. Sims

We've has such a great week doing STREAM that I just had to share! STREAM stands for Science, Technology, Religion, Engineering, Arts, and Math.  It is our improved version of STEM teaching. This week, the whole school focused on Life Science in a cross-curricular way.  Teachers at all grade levels and in all subjects tied learning together for a challenging and enriching experience for all.  Special area teachers focused on the life cycle of butterflies.  Religion classes focused on God's creation and human interaction. In Jr High, all subjects highlighted what makes each one of us unique, from our genetics to our personal histories. JK through 5th grade investigated various plant and animal lifecycles and how humans must be good stewards of their environment. 6th grade incorporated their Challenger field trip into a discovery of how perfectly God created the earth and the surrounding planets. This was an exciting week to be a student at SMM.  Please see our many social media posts for pictures of all the fun.

May God Bless You and Your Family,
Wendy Sims

The survey is anonymous, so please feel comfortable providing feedback.  The survey window will be open until Tuesday, October 31.  Thank you for your attention to this matter.

3 of 6 in a video series

What does it mean to have a "preferential option for the poor"? Matthew 25:31-46 instructs us to put the needs of the poor and vulnerable first.  This month, many of our students will begin social justice projects to help the poor and vulnerable in Step by Step. Watch for news from your class coordinators.
