Stand Down to Prevent Falls in Construction
What will you do this year to prevent falls on your job sites? The National Campaign to Prevent Falls in Construction and
Safety Stand-Down
, now in its sixth year, were launched by CPWR, OSHA, and NIOSH to focus the industry's attention on eliminating fall hazards.
Progress is being made. Participants in past Stand-Downs report that they have benefited from access to new training resources and seen improved fall prevention activities on their jobsites. The most recent
Bureau of Labor Statistics
data showed fewer fatalities from falls to a lower level in 2017.
Unfortunately, falls continue to be the number one cause of construction workplace fatalities, claiming the lives of hundreds of construction workers each year.
You can participate in the May 6th - 10th Stand-Down by pausing work to train workers, conduct safety audits, hold equipment demonstrations and engage in other activities to promote fall hazard awareness and prevention.
