Call for Papers

SMRP Indiana Chapter is looking for Maintenance/Reliability Professionals willing to share their successes, failures, methods and lessons learned in any of the five SMRPCO "Body of Knowledge" Areas for the SMRP Indy Con 2014.  Abstract submissions are due by February 5, 2014.   Presenters are rewarded with free Conference Attendance and conference benefits.  See ABSTRACT GUIDANCE below for more information.

 


ABSTRACT GUIDANCE

Below are guidelines to submit an abstract/paper/presentation for SMRP Indy Con 2014 (SMRP Indiana Chapter 7th Annual Maintenance and Reliability Conference). 


CRITERIA

  • SMRP Indy Con 2014 Conference presentations should be based on the SMRPCO Body of Knowledge that contains the five validated pillars of information essential to the success of maintenance and reliability professionals These five pillars are listed on the following page.
  • Presentations must be non-commercial
  • Presentation abstract can be no longer than 300 words
  • A short one paragraph bio/background for the presenter should be submitted with the abstract
  • No more than two presenters per presentation is recommended 
  • Accepted presenters must submit their paper / PowerPoint presentation by February 28.
  • Presentations should be not longer than one hour (with 15 minutes for Q/A)


ABSTRACT SUBMISSION

  • Send abstracts to Jim Taylor (765-366-4285) jim.taylor@machineryhealthcare.com, by February 5. All presenters will be notified if accepted by February 10 or earlier.
  • When submitting your abstract, please indicate the area (pillar) your presentation is best categorized within, along with all pertinent contact information for presenters.
  • SMRP Indiana Chapter is willing to consider all topics related to maintenance and reliability. If you feel that your topic does not fit well into one of the categories (pillars) below, please submit your abstract using a "general" category


SMRP BODY OF KNOWLEDGE AREAS - The Five Pillars

 

1. "Business and Management"

Skills used to translate an organization's business goals into appropriate maintenance and reliability goals that support and contribute to the organization's business results.

2. "Manufacturing Process Reliability" 

Maintenance and reliability activities as part of the quality assurance and improvement of the manufacturing process of the organization.  

 

3. "Equipment Reliability"
Activities used to assess the current capabilities of equipment and processes in terms of their reliability, availability, maintainability, and criticality. This may include how to select and apply the most appropriate maintenance practices, so that the equipment and processes continue to deliver their intended capabilities in the safest and most cost-effective manner.

 

4. "People Skills"
Processes for assuring that the maintenance and reliability staff is the most qualified and best assigned to achieve the maintenance and reliability organization's goals.

 

5."Work Management"
Skills used to get the maintenance and reliability work done. These include scheduling and planning activities, quality assurance of maintenance activities, and stores and inventory management.
