Now, more than ever, our families need your support!
The loss of expected income due to the forced cancellation of our fundraising efforts was substantial. Your gift to the Annual Giving Campaign goes to where funding is currently most needed. Many of our families have lost jobs or experienced a reduction in income and will need tuition assistance to compensate for that loss in the upcoming school year. Your gift will also help keep teachers and staff paid during these challenging times and enable us to adapt to the evolving challenges of an ever-changing educational landscape. This year's Annual Giving Campaign ends on July 30th: We are grateful to those that have given and encourage those that can to consider a gift today:
Student Corner
 SMS Students Shine in Southern Appalachian Science & Engineering Fair, held virtually due to COVID-19
The SASEF is sponsored by the University of Tennessee and numerous local companies and agencies and draws students from 23 counties in East Tennessee. The goal of the fair is to promote teaching the scientific method in science, engineering, and math. Over the past 20 years, 13 St. Mary students have been named grand champion or reserve champion at SASEF. This year, St. Mary’s had 6 students, representing 5 projects entered into the Fair and those 5 projects won a total of 7 awards.
The following awards were received this year by St. Mary’s Students:
• The SASEF Local Award - Music to My Ears by Maverick Queern
• Junior Division Honorable Mention - Dropping Like Flies By: Tennison Barnes and Isabella Zolnierczuk, Music to My Ears By: Maverick Queern, Is it Worth Dying For? By: Sarah Duhamel, Set Them Up and Knock Them Down By: Jonas Tilson
• Junior Division Certificate of Excellence Awards - There MITE BEE a Problem By: Victoria Corbett
• Overall Junior Division Award Winner: 4th There MITE BEE a Problem By: Victoria Corbett

First Responder in the Heart of our Country's COVID-19 Crisis
Hats off to SMS alum (1996-2002) Dr. Molly Lammert who is serving as a first year resident physician in the heart of the COVID-19 crisis at Jacobi/Montefiore Hospitals in the Bronx, NYC: Her service embodies our mission and vision for our students: to champion academic excellence and to promote truth and charity in service to God and others. Way to go, Molly-You make us all so proud! We are praying for Molly, and for all of our first responders and caregivers.
