SMS e-Newsletter May 14, 2021
Dear Sandburg Families,

We have finally had some beautiful weather. I hope you have had time to enjoy it. I want to take the time to share with you some important dates and reminders as we close out the school year.

  • According to the Minnesota Department of Education, the Safe Learning Plan, along with the existing face covering guidance for schools and child care settings, remain in effect. Through the end of the 2020-21 school year (last teacher contact day), masks must continue to be worn by everyone inside school buildings or on a school bus. If this state guidance changes before the end of the school year, we will update you as soon as possible.

  • Wednesday, June 9, will be an in person school day for students that have been coming into school.  Distance learning students will continue with asynchronous learning for this day. Below you will find information about Chromebook collection. Please reach out if you have any questions.

Go Lions!

Face Mask Policy

Masks must be worn while at Sandburg Middle School at all times. Masks must be worn tightly over your mouth, nose and chin. You should wear a clean mask at least every 3 days.

There are only two times when it is ok to remove your mask.
  1. When a person is alone in a room.
  2. When you are eating or drinking at breakfast or lunch in your assigned seat.

Support Process for Masking
  1. When our staff, students and visitors need a mask, we have extra cloth and paper masks. Speak to a teacher or the office to get a mask.
  2. Is your mask uncomfortable or not fitting well? Check with a teacher or the office for a different mask and/or ear protectors.
  3. All staff and students are asked to use either a non-verbal cue, a visual tool or a verbal “Mask Please” as a cue to remind staff, students and visitors to wear or fix their masks.
  4. When a student, staff member or visitor refuses to wear a mask after reminders and problem solving support, Sandburg support staff and/or the Sandburg administration will be contacted and will provide support.
