From Ms. Hunter

Hello Shaker Middle School Families,

Please come out to see the Fall Play, Oz, written by Don Zolidis on Friday, October 25 at 7:00 pm or Saturday, October 26 at 2:00 pm in the Middle School auditorium. Reeling from her sister's death, Beth suddenly finds herself journeying through a world suspiciously resembling the film The Wizard of Oz. But with the yellow brick road sold to foreign investors after a financial meltdown, the Scarecrow reveling in his ignorant bliss, the Cowardly Lion acting like a paranoid sociopath, and the Tin Man embracing his emotional numbness, Beth wonders what role she plays in this classic story gone awry. A hilarious and heart-wrenching exploration of grief and perseverance on the road to acceptance. The students are working hard to ensure you enjoy a great show. A special thank you to Alexander Frazier, a Shaker graduate, for directing our Fall Play this year.

Next week’s Caring School Community focus is Respecting People Who Work in Our School. During math class, students will learn how to interview people who work in the school and discuss how to treat everyone at the school with kindness and respect. This topic may extend for two to three weeks so that students have the opportunity to interview a staff member.

Don't forget to sign-up for Fall parent/teacher conferences. Please visit the Middle School website for information.

Upcoming Events :

October 18 - Pioneer Field Trip - Holden Arboretum
October 21 - GSA - GLSEN Conference, Kent State Univ.
