AUSTIN, TX - The Southwest Minority Supplier Development Council (SMSDC) is excited to announce Carol Thomas & Mayra Peña will join its executive team in new roles. Carol Thomas will now serve as the Senior Vice President of Administration & Operations. Mayra Peña will serve as the new Vice President of Stakeholder Engagement & Success. 


With over seven years of experience at the Council, Carol's focus on building the financial strength for the Council is paramount in addition to meeting the Council's objectives for ZONES, increased Local Corporate Members, Sponsorships, Operations, Human Resources and Programs. 


"As the former Chief of Staff for the Council, Carol will continue to ensure that the Council's financial well-being and program success remains at the forefront," said Karen Box, President & CEO of SMSDC. “It is just my pleasure to make sure my team is uplifted and see the bright light my team brings."

Mayra will continue to build strength & abilities to better serve the stakeholders in her new role. 

 

With over 15 years of experience at the Council, Mayra’s responsibilities most recently included leading the National Minority Supplier Development Council (NMSDC) Centers of Excellence Certificate Program (COECP), all events of the Council including Annual Stakeholders Meeting, Premier Face Time Expo & Golf Tournament, Oklahoma Business Opportunity Conference, Diversity at the Border, Regional Task Force Events and Lunch & Learn Workshops. She leads the direction of all marketing and communications of the Council, website maintenance, design implementation of all materials, brand management and strategic event planning & execution.
