From your MBEIC Chair
We are off to a great start!

Our Southwest Council wants to share with you our goals and plans for 2019; but more importantly, we want ALL MBEs to be a part of them.

I encourage all MBEs to join us at SMSDC’s Annual Stakeholders’ Meeting , ( a complimentary event) this upcoming March 5th in San Antonio. It is the place to be and the perfect opportunity for all MBEs to:

  • Get to better know YOUR council
  • Connect in person with your council’s board of directors, corporations and other MBEs.
  • Hear from Reginald K. Layton (Chair of the Board) about the “State of the Network”.
  • Learn about the 2018 Annual report and 2019 Services from Karen Box, SMSDC President/CEO.
  • Listen to corporations’ insights on Supplier Diversity.
  • Look for opportunities.
  • Be part of better plans for 2019
  • And more. See the Meeting Agenda for more details.

Join us for an entire work-day, starting with breakfast at Toyota’s Motor Manufacturing Plant, followed by meaningful discussions where we can learn first-hand about SMSDC’s past reports, current activities and future plans; and network to connect with your next customer/partner/supplier.
As your MBEIC Chair, I can't stress enough that OUR involvement as MBEs is CRUCIAL . We need you to be part of the driving force. I am excited to share with you that a Regional Task Force’s MBE Luncheon has been added just for us during the Annual Stakeholders’ Meeting.

This session was designed with MBEs and Regional Task Forces from all SMSDC’s service areas in mind, as a way to meet and discuss concerns and opportunities relevant to our particular needs.

Why take part in this session? To:
  • Discuss MBE participation in, and commitment to SMSDC
  • Talk about plans for 2019 and provide input on what matters most to us, MBEs (data collection)
  • Recruit RTF Members to help take action in our own areas
  • Look into expanding opportunities for MBEs

Register Now!  and, see you in San Antonio!

Your SMSDC MBEIC Chair,
Beatriz Fernandez

CERTIFICATION
Frequently Asked Questions

The Declaration of Certification of Minority Status is a document that must be printed, filled-out, notarized by a Notary Public, and uploaded to the Declaration Section (last section) of the MBE Certification Application. It would be a great idea to save a black copy of the Declaration of Certification of Minority Status so that you may have it available for your re-certification, a year after you are originally certified. This document must be updated and notarized yearly, as part of the requirements of our MBE Certification.
PLEASE DO NOT Let your
SMSDC Certification Expire!

Check the expiration date on your SMSDC certification. As a courtesy reminder your certification is about to expire, you will receive an e-mail notification from the AdaptOne portal which looks similar to the image above. DO NOT ignore this e-mail. It may to your spam or junk mail.

Once your SMSDC certification expires, ALL MBEs have to complete the entire certification process from the beginning. For those MBEs in the STATE OF TEXAS, in addition to completing the entire certification process all over again, the HUB certification, which enables you to bid on contracts, is no longer valid.  The HUB certification process is only done once a month. This means for those MBEs in the State of Texas, they will now have to wait an entire month for their HUB certification.

Please contact Gabrielle Ramirez at  [email protected]  for assistance on your SMSDC ReCertification.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION for all MBEs:

If this is a  New Application or ReCertification , and you are having trouble uploading your documents, please contact Gabrielle Ramirez at 512.386.8766 during regular business hours or send an e-mail to  [email protected] .
