MBE’s let us help you in this time to find resources for your business during this pandemic, COVID 19.
I know everyone is staying safe based on how COVID-19 can affect our families, safety must be our first priority. We may feel a little silly wearing mask and gloves but if we can accept the new fashion, we can all conquer this together.
I have missed everyone. I know we have had to reschedule a few of our events, RTF, Premier Face Time Expo, MBE Idol. I pray that we will be back on track for the NMSDC National Conference in October 2020. As MBE’s and small business owners there is a lot of research to do.
I have listed a few resources that will come in handy at this critical time.
The recently passed CARES Act included support for small businesses in this time through the SBA. SBA working with your local banker, are providing loans that can help assist with economic injury (Economic Injury Disaster Loans) to helping you maintain your employees and payroll (Payroll Protection Program). I encourage you to check out the SBA website above and I highly recommend that if you aren’t already subscribing to the SBA email updates that you do so, they are very informative. You can subscribe at
https://www.sba.gov/about-sba/organization
. If you are on twitter you can go to @SBAgov for the latest updates. For additional assistance you can find your local SBA office resources at
www.SBA.gov/local
assistance or you can call 1-800-659-2955.

MBEs Can Pay It Forward to Fight the Pandemic
One thing we may all agree on is that it has been a few tough weeks for everyone. We can feel like the world is unraveling. Whether you’re dealing with sickness, social distancing, working from home, and/or trying to homeschool kids, it isn’t easy. We all want to get back to normal.
Although, we don’t know what normal will look like, and when that might be. The hustle and bustle of our daily lives may have been impacted and caused us to slow down and look at some of the more important things.
This would be a great opportunity for MBEs to pay it forward in your community. Support Law Enforcement, First Responders and Medical Professionals that have always been there for us in our time of need.
If your company is able to donate supplies for health care workers and organizations that are on the front lines in your city please donate directly charities helping Covid-19 relief.

PLEASE DO NOT Let your
SMSDC Certification Expire!
Please note effective immediately, we are extending all MBE recertification dates and waiving late fees if your company expired or will expire in March, April or May of 2020.
Check the expiration date on your SMSDC certification. As a courtesy reminder when your certification is about to expire, you will receive an e-mail notification from the AdaptOne portal which looks similar to the image above. DO NOT ignore this e-mail. It may to your spam or junk mail.
Once your SMSDC certification expires, ALL MBEs have to complete the entire certification process from the beginning. For those MBEs in the STATE OF TEXAS, in addition to completing the entire certification process all over again, the HUB certification, which enables you to bid on contracts, is no longer valid.
The HUB certification process is only done once a month. This means for those MBEs in the State of Texas, they will now have to wait an entire month for their HUB certification.
Please contact Gabrielle Ramirez at
gabrielle@smsdc.org
for assistance on your SMSDC ReCertification.
