On February 20, 2020 I had the privilege of being elected as MBEIC Chairperson. I would like to say thank you to all the MBE’s for believing and trusting in me to represent you. Holding this position as an MBE will allow me to meet with other MBE’s and listen to what are the things that can help us to grow our businesses. It’s helping MBEs finding solutions and encouraging them that the opportunities are out there. This position will also give me the opportunity to ensure that MBEs continue to be heard. I want to get to know you and your company so we can find the relationships and opportunities with corporation and tier ones that lead to success. I have been involved with the SMSDC for over eight years and through my involvement I have been able to increase my opportunities for business growth based on the relationships that we have built with corporations. I want to share my experience with other MBEs to help open the door for others. Working together will help us all be successful.
It is important for certified MBE‘s to get involved in upcoming events with SMSDC. We make an investment to become certified MBEs and it takes action to bring value to that investment. Being a Certified MBE and being involved with SMSDC does open doors for us to identify the opportunity and develop the relationships that will help us to grow. Your involvement also allows you to express your passion as an entrepreneur and why corporations and tier ones they should do business with you. We are a large region and if you want to grow your company in other cities or states being involved with the SMSDC allows you to participate at a Nation level as well with NMSDC.
I would like to say thank you to Beatriz Fernandez our past MBEIC Chairperson and all the great work she has done. I look forward to building on the success she has already created. If you know of MBEs who are not certified bring them as a guest to our upcoming RTF meetings. All MBEs are welcome. There will be an RTF event in San Antonio on April 2 and an event April 8 in Austin.

Requirement for All New MBEs:
You must participate in the training prior to the Certification Committee reviews your application.
All new MBE's must attend a Pre-Certification & Post-Certification training. The training will be held by conference call several times a month for each session. Please make sure to attend one pre-certification & one post-certification training in order to complete the certification process. Appointment is not necessary.

SMSDC Certification Expire!
Check the expiration date on your SMSDC certification. As a courtesy reminder your certification is about to expire, you will receive an e-mail notification from the AdaptOne portal which looks similar to the image above. DO NOT ignore this e-mail. It may to your spam or junk mail.
Once your SMSDC certification expires, ALL MBEs have to complete the entire certification process from the beginning. For those MBEs in the STATE OF TEXAS, in addition to completing the entire certification process all over again, the HUB certification, which enables you to bid on contracts, is no longer valid.
The HUB certification process is only done once a month. This means for those MBEs in the State of Texas, they will now have to wait an entire month for their HUB certification.
