SMSDC’s Premier Face Time Virtual Expo brought together corporations and certified MBEs leaving positive feedback and success stories throughout. Thank you to all who joined us virtually on June 9-10th. This year’s theme, “The Power of Supplier Diversity” gave us an insight on what corporations are now doing to increase their minority spend.
The Buyers Breakfast Roundtable virtual session gave us an opportunity to meet buyers from various industries, state agency representatives and other certified MBEs we can potentially partner with. The two-day event held many opportunities for us MBEs to promote our business! Thank you SMSDC and its Board of Directors for planning & executing such a successful virtual event. We know virtual events have become the new normal and many organizations have pivoted to continue to offer matchmaking & networking opportunities via new and innovative platforms.

Please keep in mind NMSDC’s MBE2MBE Search tool is available. The NMSDC certified MBEs have long been encouraged to team and partner with their MBE colleagues.
The MBE2MBE search tool enables MBEs to:

REQUIREMENT FOR ALL NEW & INTERESTED APPLICANTS FOR MINORITY BUSINESS ENTERPRISE (MBE) CERTIFICATION:
You must participate in the session prior to the Certification Committee reviews your application.
All new MBE's must attend a Pre-Certification & Post-Certification session. The sessions will be held by conference call several times a month. Please make sure to attend one pre-certification & one post-certification session in order to complete the certification process. Please contact Alana Ortega, Certification Manager, at alana@smsdc.org to register.

Trainings are available from 10am – 12pm CST on the dates listed above for the month of July. Training may take about 30 minutes however please allow additional time depending on your company structure and questions you may have.

The ADAPTONE Application Portal sends an auto-generated reminder to the email associated with your MBE application at 90 days, 60 days and 30 days before your expiration date to advise you as a COURTESY to apply for your Recertification.
It is your responsibility to keep your MBE Certification current. Recertification processing time can take up to 30 days after submitting your application fee and documents.
Allowing it to lapse longer than 30 days after the expiration date may lead to Recertification Late Fees or even the possibility of starting the process over in its entirety as a NEW MBE.

To obtain a copy of your MBE logo, please follow the steps below:
- Login with email/password associated with your SMSDC Certification
- You will see options such as applying for recertification or viewing/printing current certificate
- To obtain logo select “NMSDC Logo Pack” from the bottom right-hand corner and press the download button
The MBE logo is available for use on your company’s marketing print and electronic material. The MBE logo will only be available for your use as long as your company has a current & active MBE certification.

Join us on July 29th, 1-3 p.m. CST for a virtual event where Oklahoma-based Certified MBEs will present their business virtually to the entire SMSDC community including Corporate Members, Certified MBEs and community partners.
Certified MBE presenters will be given 5 minutes to present your company’s products/services to all in attendance. The event is only open to 10 presenters by first come, first serve basis.
**YOU MUST BE AN OKLAHOMA-BASED CURRENT CERTIFIED MBE OF THE SMSDC TO BE A PRESENTER AT THIS EVENT**

MBE "Idol" FINALS Virtual Event
August 19, 2021
3:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. CST
Who will be named the next SMSDC MBE "Idol"?
Join us to listen in and cheer on your fellow MBEs competing for the 2021 MBE "Idol" FINAL event on August 19th.

This year the Judges for the MBE Idol Finals will include senior level executives from other corporations. And the 2021 MBE Idol of the Year will be virtually meeting with a senior level executive from within the SMSDC’s Fortune 500 corporations. So not just Dell. This is being done to connect our MBEs with potential opportunities in various industries. All of the MBE Idol participants understand they are not being offered a contract at the end of the competition. They are offered the opportunity to virtually meet one-on-one with a senior level executive from within the SMSDC’s Fortune 500 corporations.
The winner will still be featured along with their company in the SMSDC’s monthly e-newsletter and participate in additional speaking opportunities in 2022.
