St. Mary's Visitation Parish School's Mission Statement

St. Mary's Visitation Catholic Parish School exists to direct children toward God and toward Christian Service to society through Catholic religious formation, academic challenge, and continuous improvement.

Welcome!

Dear Families,

We are very excited to welcome you to our Back to School Open House event today from 4:00-7:00pm! The teachers have been busy getting their classrooms ready as we await the arrival of our students. There is great anticipation in the air. I’m sure you feel it at your house too. This has been a year of growth for our school. We have 342 students enrolled this year!

Don’t forget to stop in the Maker Space or Cafeteria today so your child can have their school photo taken. Please do so before 6:30pm, as photos will wrap up then. Here's a copy of the flyer If you wish to order in advance. If this doesn’t work for you don’t worry, we have a make up day on October 4th.

This summer we have been working on making safety updates to the building. In the next few weeks the classroom door handles will be changed so the teacher can lock the door from the inside with a push button. Currently, doors can only be locked from the outside with a key.

Additionally, room numbers on the outside of the building have been made more visible in case of an emergency. The glass to the exterior doors on the Crescent side of the building was replaced. A new system to secure the doors electronically was also updated.

This year the students will be using only two entrances to enter the building. Grades K3 and grades 1-8 will enter through the main front doors to the school.

The K4 and K5 students will enter the building through the doors that are east of the main doors near the little parking lot (by the dumpsters). On the first day (August 29th), parents may walk with their K4 and K5 students into the classroom.

After this first day, K4 and K5 parents may drop-off or walk their children up to the doors and then should leave as the students enter the building. This is the general procedure for all other students. * First day procedures for K3 will be outlined in next week’s VB.*

ALL parents and visitors who want to come into the building at other times must enter through the front door. You will need to stop in the office and get a nametag to be allowed in the building or to volunteer on the playground. Our name tag system is an electronic process and we will need your driver's license or a state ID. Thank you for helping us keep everyone safe.

The school doors open at 7:25am. We ask that no child is left unattended outside before that time. Students must be in their classrooms by 7:45am when the school day begins. Our school day ends at 2:30pm for K3 and 2:45 for K4-8th grade. We ask that you promptly pick up your child at these times. Teachers have various meetings to attend after school. If you are running late, please call the office. If you are not here, your child will be taken to Afterschool Care, and you will be assessed the appropriate fees. This is a safety issue for us; we appreciate your adherence to these policies.

This is also a reminder to read through the Parent-Student Handbook which was sent out last week. It can also be found in the permanent link section here. Please submit your acknowledgement if you have not already done so.

Next Tuesday is our first all school Mass with grades K5-8. (K4 will be joining us in a few weeks.) We would love for you to join us! Students will be seated in the first two middle sections closest to the altar. The K5 students will be seated along the southside of the church (the tunnel side).

Finally, Archbishop Listecki's Love One Another Blog this week is a nice reflection on being Part of the Family. We welcome all of  you as part of our SMV Family.

We’ll see you soon!

Blessings,

Mrs. Mary Tretow

Principal
