Thank You!
Dear Families,
Believe it or not, it can be a little harder to focus after Spring Break. I am sure our 8th graders would agree. As the calendar turns over to the warm months, it is easy to daydream about lakes and patios and baseball diamonds (or in my case, a soccer pitch). Fortunately for my own productivity, the weather has been doing its best to quash any hope of daily outdoor adventures. Still, the dream persists. It is easy and tempting because it is so near.
There is something deeply Christian about rejecting this exact temptation. In Second Timothy, St. Paul writes “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith” (2 Timothy 4: 7). There is merit to the journey itself, and to the completion, even when it feels more like a fight. In one of my favorite passages from the Old Testament, the Prophet Isaiah even writes about how we should call on God for support in these instances. “He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint,” (Isaiah 40:29-31).
It is always helpful to remember that every moment with children is important and unique, never to be repeated. Though our thoughts drift to future endeavors, there is incredible value in the now.
So, just a reminder to all as we enter into the waning moments of the 2024-25 school year, there is much work to finish, and much growth yet to come. Track season has just begun. Many fun events await like the Quiz Bowl Tournament, Daddy-Daughter Dance, Grandparents’ Day, Mother-Son Night, and Field Day. Two months of learning new topics, sharpening skills, and spending time with friends. Above all, we remember the upcoming celebration of Holy Week, Easter and the Easter season, as well as our 2nd graders experiencing their First Communion, the very first time they receive the body, blood, soul, and divinity of our risen savior.
The year is not over yet, and for that there is much reason for joy.
