Walker Elementary Robotics Tournament Sponsorship
|
We are thrilled to share the success story of the Walker Elementary Robotics Team, coached by Mayra Craig. This year, SN-ICC had the honor of sponsoring this talented group of young engineers, and their achievements were truly remarkable.
The team traveled to Texas and competed in an international competition featuring over 400 teams from 150 nations and all 50 states. In their division of 82 teams, they represented Nevada with distinction, competing alongside top alliances from around the world. The team was ranked in the top half of their division and received a second judged interview for their outstanding teamwork, top-scoring autonomous program, engineering and robot design, and exceptional engineering notebook. This second interview is an honor reserved for only the top 20% of all teams. While they did not bring home a world award this season, their performance was exceptional.
The entire team will be returning next year as 5th graders, equipped with the knowledge and experience gained this year.
From Ms. Craig: "We have included a short video of their trip and competition. Thank you for making this incredible experience possible, and we look forward to supporting their future endeavors."

The Southern Nevada Building Officials (SNBO) have been actively working through technical committees to develop a consensus document of local amendments for the 2024 cycle of codes. These committees, composed of experienced professionals from various disciplines, aim to address unique regional considerations and specific safety concerns that may not be fully covered by the standard model codes. By collaborating with industry experts, municipal representatives, and other stakeholders, the SNBO ensures that the amendments are well-informed, practical, and beneficial for the local construction industry and community.
A significant milestone in this effort was the recent approval of the amendments for the plumbing and mechanical codes. These updates reflect the latest best practices and technological advancements, ensuring that local regulations are up-to-date and conducive to safe, efficient, and sustainable building practices. The approval process involved extensive discussions and reviews, as the committees sought to balance innovation with the practical realities of construction in Southern Nevada's unique climate and environment. The adoption of these amendments marks a critical step towards a comprehensive update of the local building codes.
Looking ahead, the SNBO is optimistic about completing the entire package of local amendments by the end of the year. This timeline reflects the organization's commitment to a thorough and inclusive review process, allowing ample time for public input and professional scrutiny. The finalized document will serve as a crucial resource for builders, designers, and regulators, providing clear guidance on the standards and expectations for construction projects in the region.
| |
|
By the end of the year, the SNBO aims to present a cohesive and comprehensive set of amendments that will enhance safety, efficiency, and sustainability in Southern Nevada's built environment. As each set of amendments make their way to the Building Officials through the steering committee,we are that much closer to a complete up to date adoption.

Membership Night with the Aviators
|
Thank You to Everyone who joined us at Las Vegas Ballpark on June 15th!
SN-ICC Membership Night at the LV Ballpark was a blast as the Las Vegas Aviators transformed into the Malmö Oat Milkers for a match up against close rival, the Salt Lake City Bees.
Despite the 10-3 loss to the Bees, our spirits soared high in Las Vegas, thanks to the great company, clear skies, and air-conditioned party suites. We also enjoyed a wide array of food and beverages.
A big shout-out to the Membership Committee and Committee Chair Andrew Kelly for organizing our evening! ,We appreciate all who attended to make this event a success!
