With SNAP benefits disrupted and the government shutdown ongoing, our Kentuckiana neighbors are turning to Dare to Care for help - and you're making it possible for us to respond.
Doubling our food purchases
We are now doubling our food purchases throughout our 13-county service area, providing both fresh produce and shelf-stable essentials to meet the growing need.
Although the federal government has announced partial November SNAP payments will be issued, many families will still face significant gaps. The timing and amount of these benefits remain unclear.
We are leading daily virtual gatherings of our 400+ nonprofit partners who rely on us for food. Those partners include Sister Visitor Center in West Louisville, where they've seen more neighbors coming for food. "People who haven't been here in 5, 10, 15 years are back," said food pantry coordinator Jana McNally.

Our community is rallying:
- Gov. Beshear has pledged $5 million for Kentucky's food banks
- Meijer donated $160,000
- WHAS-11 will have a telethon on Nov. 12 that will feature matching gifts
