THANKSGIVING FOR GOD'S GOODNESS,
revealed through human goodness
Thanksgiving--so many reasons to express our appreciation for God's abundant gifts! Since 1850 in Germany and now in 18 countries, the Sisters of Notre Dame have been wrapped in God's grace.
Our relatives, friends and colleagues continue to show us God's goodness in countless ways--spiritual support, encouragement, ministry collaboration, fellowship, financial assistance and so much more. As the theologian Meister Eckhart wrote, "God's goodness is revealed through human goodness."
On November 26, Nancy Grasmehr, a long-time SND friend and a member of the pioneer group of SND Associates, passed from this life into the arms of God. Words are inadequate to express the impact that Nancy had on so many lives. A woman of faith, Nancy was a leader and volunteer for many causes--the League of Women Voters, the Ventura County Transportation Commission, Many Mansions, the St. Paschal Baylon RCIA team and the St. Vincent de Paul Society--to name a few. Nancy revealed God's goodness through her own special goodness, and for her example, we are deeply grateful!
The friendship of individuals like Nancy and her husband, Tom, has been a great gift from God. On this Thanksgiving, we gratefully embrace all who have shared our journey, as we look forward to the new ventures and graces that SND*USA will provide in 2020.
With our prayerful good wishes,

THE ARTIST AND HER OILS,
As the Director of Adult Formation and Evangelization at St. Dominic's Parish in Eagle Rock, and as a National Catechetical Leader and Master Catechist for the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, Sr. M. Joyanne Sullivan uses art and nature to enhance her teaching.
Painting landscapes and still life has been Sr. Joyanne's hobby for 15 years. She takes inspiration from the places she enjoys visiting, such as the Huntington Library and Gardens in San Marino and Descanso Gardens in La Canada.
Sharing her talents, Sr. Joyanne feels privileged to build community with those who attend her art shows. As people view the paintings, the images seem to strike a chord that inspires them to recall their own cherished memories.
More information about this year's Dec. 8 art show is listed below.

Sr. M. Francelia Klingshirn,
celebrating 102 years
Monday, November 11 is celebrated as Veterans' Day. But for the SNDs of the California province, this day was also special as Sr. M. Francelia Klingshirn celebrated her 102nd birthday! Sr. Francelia's engaging smile and ready wit brought a lot of laughs to the party.
Shown in this photo are Sr. M. Rebekah Kennedy, Sr. M. Luellen Boeglin and Sr. M. Francelia.

CATHY BRUNASSO COTA,
devoted to the healing arts
The SNDs are educators...
loving educators. They take a personal interest in their students as people. They are relatable women who show through example how Christ can be a part of our daily lives...
The "Where are they now" feature of the SND Mission Advancement Egram will give updates on our colleagues and former students--anyone entrusted to our care. We want to share how they live the SND mission by serving, leading, and giving hope within our diverse society. To submit information for this column, please email Sarah Marcuse at smarcuse@sndca.org.
