THIRD ANNUAL NUN RUN THANK YOU:
We ran
 with purpose!

The Sisters of Notre Dame gratefully acknowledge the outstanding efforts of runners, walkers, volunteers, community service organization representatives and vendors who helped make the Third Annual Nun Run a grand success!  The best estimate is that more than 1,000 SND friends attended the February 4 event.   A number of guests commented on the energizing community spirit that was so very evident throughout the event.

Cheered on by staff members Sr. Florette Marie Adams and Sr. Shawn Marie Doyle, the team from Our Lady of Gudalupe School in Oxnard captured the participation prize for the second consecutive year.

Congratulations to the top 10 teams and their captains.  This year's teams showed a lot of spirit and represented many different areas and age groups!

The "Where are they now" feature of the SND Mission Advancement Egram will give updates on our colleagues and former students--anyone entrusted to our care.   We want to share how they live the SND mission by serving, leading, and giving hope within our diverse society.  To submit information for this column, please email

MESSAGE TO OUR READERS:  Lent 2017
During the season of Lent, there are many opportunities to grow spiritually.   The Sisters of Notre Dame are pleased to participate in The University Series, a parish-based program of seminars for the purpose of spiritual and personal growth.

Sr. Rose Marie Tulacz will present Sacred Illuminations, a mystical multi-media evening of light and sound incorporating her photography and reflections.  Experience the tenderness and caress of the Father's love for you.  Light a candle.  Receive the Word.  Be Still.  Deepen Hope.  Be Loved.
Tuesday, March 7, 7:30 - 9:00 p.m. at St. Maximilian Kolbe Hall in Westlake Village

Sr. M. Domnic Jones will be a co-presenter with Deacon Mike Freeman on the topic of Annulments:  Spiritual Journeys to Discover the Truth.  Catholics believe that the Sacrament of Marriage is forever, so is an annulment some kind of "Catholic Divorce"?  What exactly is the process and how does it work?  Come and hear the real story about this important feature of the Sacrament of Marriage in an easy to understand way, with plenty of time for questions.
Thursday, March 16, 7:30 - 9:00 p.m. at St. Bruno Parish in Whittier

And finally, Kindred Hearts Ministry will offer a variety of spiritual enrichment programs during Lent.  Follow this link for the March, 2017 calendar.

Catholic tradition also encourages us to commemorate Lent through almsgiving to those in need.   We encourage you to consider the children of our SND Uganda Mission as recipients of your monetary sacrifices.  Thank you for embracing them as treasured members of our SND family!

Blessings always,
Sr. Lisa Megaffin, S.N.D.
Director of Mission Advancement Services
