Dear Friends,
The week of March 8 is Catholic Sisters Week! Together with all consecrated women religious, we can celebrate our vocation as God's gift to us and to all humankind. These days will be a time for us, as Sisters of Notre Dame, to praise and thank God for the many blessings received throughout our congregational history.

Since 1850, we have been missioned to share God's love with those in need. Today, more than 1,700 living SNDs minister in 18 countries: Brazil, East Asia, England, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Kenya, Mozambique, Papua New Guinea, Peru, South Korea, South Vietnam, Tanzania, Uganda, The Netherlands, The Philippines, and The United States of America. Our maxim, "where one of us is, all of us are" reminds us of our cherished community spirit. Our ministries may be "traditional," but they also include our spiritual, educational and social works to meet the changing signs of the times.
Be assured of the grateful and prayerful good wishes of each SND--that you, as our Associates, donors, colleagues, families and friends--may always feel God's love. In a world that hungers for peace, may you know the joy of Catholic Sisters Week!
Blessings always,
Director of Mission Advancement Services

PUMP WATER SYSTEM UPDATE,
life-giving water for those in need
|
|
A collapsed water tank shows its limited durability...
|
|
For St. Julie's Mission and the village of Buseesa, Uganda, the availability of water is a regular challenge. Water sources have been a local spring and captured rain water. Storage tanks have limited capacity and durability. In this drought-stricken area, a pump water system is the only sustainable way to meet hydration and sanitation needs.
Since last spring, the Sisters of Notre Dame have led a campaign to acquire such a system for the mission and villagers. Special thanks to the individuals and groups who have donated approximately $48,000 to date!
According to Sr. M. Colette Theobald, head teacher at St. Julie's, the first phase of this project will begin in the near future. This phase will be drilling the borehole deep well, with a distribution structure (pump house, gravity tank and stand, and lower tanks), piping and taps to follow. When complete, this project will benefit 22,000 individuals in the village and the mission.
Additional donations will be greatly appreciated for the completion of this project. Please donate today at
sndca.org/donate with "pump water system" in the notes. For further information, please contact
Sr. Lisa Megaffin.
PS--Great news from Notre Dame Academy Secondary in Buseesa! The 2019 national tests results showed that NDA students ranked
- 16th overall, out of 3,000 + schools
- #5 in chemistry
- #4 in physics
- #1 in mathematics
Special thanks to everyone who has made this achievement possible!

ANNABELLE GORDON,
sharing SND joy
"The word, 'joy,' comes to my mind most often with the SNDs. I have known many religious sisters from many congregations, but none are as joyful as the Sisters of Notre Dame. Their commitment to living a life of joyful simplicity is something to strive for. They are serious about spreading the message of a good and provident God!"
The "Where are they now" feature of the SND Mission Advancement Egram will give updates on our colleagues and former students--anyone entrusted to our care. We want to share how they live the SND mission by serving, leading, and giving hope within our diverse society. To submit information for this column, please email Sarah Marcuse at smarcuse@sndca.org.
