"Great reminder after these last months that it is good to celebrate the big and small things. We often take for granted things that others either do not have or cannot enjoy. Every day is a gift. Thanks for sharing this approach to celebration!!"

"I have a birthday in July. I’m going to do something I haven’t done in a long time. Need time to think about how I will spend the ME day."

"I love the idea of having a 'non-big birthday' party. I never understand why people say they hate birthdays. I’ve been through a lot of good times, bad times, and some really awful times, but I’m still here and I think I deserve a day that celebrates my existence. Good for your friend!"

"I just finished your snippet on celebrating yourself, whenever for whatever. I also do or get things just because I want them. Of course, when you read what I'm getting, you might think what? ... but part of this is that my hubby dislikes change of any kind. ['The old bathroom was fine, etc. etc.'] I just made arrangements to have a new fence put in across the back part of our yard because I enjoy looking out of our kitchen picture window and the old fence is falling apart. Now, he dutifully goes outside every time the wind blows to prop up the old fence, which I appreciate, BUT, now I want more.
So, besides celebrating yourself, treat yourself, too. It doesn't have to be much. When I was a single mom with three little ones and I would feel down, a trip to Caldor [now there's a store only a few of you will remember] for a new kitchen tea-towel was a treat!! We are really simple people, we women, who are easily made happy, but sometimes we have to generate that happy feeling for ourselves."
