Supervisors Summary

Here is a summary of actions taken at last week's Board of Supervisors meeting:

✅ Swore in new Supervisor Dr. John McLaughlin.

✅ Recognized outgoing Supervisor Mike Gilpin for his more than 8 years of service on the Board.

✅ Recognized Supervisor Craig Herrick for serving in the role of Board President for the last year.

✅ Voted in Beverly Phillips as President, Craig Herrick as Vice President, Coral Benka as Board Treasurer and Melissa Dahl as Board Secretary for 2024.

✅ Accepted the recommendations of the Assessment Appeal Committee to deny 10 requests for appeals of District assessment amounts.

✅ Approved the contract with Vose Law Firm LLP to serve as the new legal counsel for the District.

✅ Approved by a 3-2 vote the expenditure of $500,000 from Capital Reserve funds to replace the greens at both Deer Run and Turtle Run to USGA standards.

50th Anniversary Food & Drink Specials

As part of our 50th Anniversary celebration, Island View Restaurant will be featuring monthly food and drink specials remembering the foods and flavors of 1974.

For the whole month of February, the drink special will be the Gimlet, a mix of vodka or gin with lime juice, served shaken or on the rocks, for $6.74.

Gimlets made their way into the mainstream during the vodka boom of the 1970s and 80s.

From Monday, February 19 through Sunday, February 25, the food special will be a Cheese Log for Two, made with cheddar cheese, cream cheese, green onion, spices and coated in chopped pecans, served with Assorted Crackers for $10.74.

A retro canapé from the 1970s, the cheese log could regularly be seen on buffet tables, alongside sausage rolls, devilled eggs and vol-au-vents.
