Humble Beginnings
Liniments have had a long efficacy and concerns about burning and discomfort when applied. In fact, some topical pain relief lines can severely irritate the skin, causing more harm to an already uncomfortable horse. And this issue wasn’t just a problem for horses, but for anyone applying the liniment, too. What’s the point of applying something to reduce pain when it causes more pain?
Starting out in a pot on the stove, experimentation began with different herbal ingredients, including components like witch hazel, arnica, and ginger, which were believed to have beneficial effects while being gentle on the skin.
As batch sizes increased, the pot wasn’t nearly big enough. The pot graduated to a bathroom sink, and then to a bathtub.
Fast forward to years later. We knew we had something unique that would really benefit equine athletes, and we began to collect data showing its benefits. The bathtub was left far behind.
